This charging system, like all the other Honda scooters is dirty simple. It has coils of wire called the stator. The flywheel spins outside it and on the inside of the flywheel are magnets that energizes the coils with AC voltage. This AC is sent to the regulator/rectifier where it is rectified into DC voltage. The regulator controls how much your battery is charged. So you have 2 components to check and then the wires. In the manual there are Resistance checks to make to check the stator and regulator/rectifier. There are also some voltage checks to make with the engine running. All this info is in Chapter 14 of the Service Manual.
