I have determined that the 3 petal SA50 (Elite) reeds will fit the Aero 80. These will replace the stock 2 petal reeds. From Honda-san the reed assembly is only $33. I got mine for half that on the Spree forum. I will report on the preformance results once they arrive and are installed.

i have read that the 80's had trouble at WOT... well, here's what i read from motorscooterguide.com
"It’s common for this scooter to cut out at full throttle, so max acceleration is usually achieved at 7/8th throttle. Quite a few owners have reported this but I have also heard that it can be cured by going with a one size larger main jet. This problem is gone on my brothers NH80 now that he has switched to a larger 24mm carb. "
i was wondering if getting the reeds and intake off the later year elites would alleviate this problem...please let us know about the reeds, i'll keep my eye on this thread

Actually he went with the CT manifold to go with the big carb. My CT manifold arrived today in the mail, as did the SA50 reeds.
I'm not worried about the manifold as the carb is a 16 mm affair while the manifold is a 19 mm deal. So no restriction in the manifold, but the stock 2 petal reeds sure look small, about the same size as a Spree. So they go and the 3 petal SA50 will replace them and I will see what happens.
I am looking for a 1985 Aero 80 carb because by what I've read it solved the WOT issue.
One thing I don't like is the needle in the carb is non-adjustable because the EPA penalized bigger than 50 cc engines. I may see if another needle I have will work.
If nothing else I can upgrade to the CT before I planned to but then I will have to make an adapter or buy a different carb.

I am now running a 90 in my Aero 80 and the stumble is gone. I tried a 92, 95 and a 98 but they were worst. BUT and it is a big but, I am now suspicious that the bystarter problem I had may have skewed the results because it was leaking excess fuel at the time. I should probably test the 92 and 95 jets again.
